Ugly, Ugly War

When will it ever end…

Poems about war shouldn’t be called poems
They need to be tagged with an uglier word
At the start of wars there are often feelings of excitement
By the end of each war the strongest feeling is grief.
So call all war poems records of loss, or thoughts
Of mass sadness. Or simply admit war is woe.
Acts of war leave us only death and destruction.
