The Winter Solstice Approaches

Less daylight, more memories

Anne Chisom

--

Late Fall’s darker, colder nights warn of Winter’s approach
These longer nights have now captured more of the time
In each twenty-four hours counted as a calendar day.
The longer span of darkness fools my brain and my body
Into the deceptive delusion that Winter’s daily divisions
Do indeed last longer than twenty-four hours each.
