Hot weather, tempers
Spark in those with no control.
Guns don’t mix well here.
In parts of the United States, the hot, humid days of this year have begun. Historically, rates and incidents of violence rise in hot weather.
In the United States, it’s not like there’s no violence occurring, then all of a sudden explosions of this out-of-control behavior happen.
There are statistics compiled for all types of violence and when they occur most. But the lists I find the most alarming are those for gun violence.
As of June 4, 2021, in the U.S., there have been 18,518 gun violence deaths from all causes, as reported by the Gun Violence Archive.
In addition, there have been 15,775 gun injuries.
The statistic that alarms me the most is: there have been 244 mass shootings, as of today. Today is the 154th day of 2021, so this country is averaging more than one mass shooting incident every day.
I hate to be the bearer of such bad news, but maybe by keeping track of how very awful this situation is, we can help in some way.
If you do want to keep track of the detailed data from the GVA, which they update daily, I have linked to their web site above, and I’ll link it again here
Thanks for reading this.
